Employer Training & Trades

Building skills

We can connect you with programs that help you build your skilled labour force on the job. Whether you are hiring workers that require certification, applying for wage subsidies or improving your worksite safety programs, we can help you find the right training programs.

Apprenticeships

In Alberta, many construction, transportation and manufacturing trades require that employees complete an apprenticeship program. You can view a complete list of compulsory certification trades at the Alberta government's Trade Secrets website (PDF). In our region, both Red Deer College and Olds College offer apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.

Wage subsidies

You may be eligible for wage subsidy programs and special incentives to hire recent graduates, aboriginal or foreign workers or people with disabilities. One such program, the Agricultural Processing Industry Employment Program is run through the Alberta government and provides a subsidy of up to $500/month for skill training in Alberta's processing industry.

The CAEP website has a comprehensive list of wage subsidy programs or contact us for opportunities in your industry.

Safety training

The Alberta government and many key industry organizations in our region are working towards aggressive worksite safety standards. And the Alberta worker's compensation board offers discounts up to 20% on premiums for members of their partners in injury reduction program.

Contact us for a referral to your industry's safety organization or view a list of key industry organizations at the CAEP website.
