Alberta's GDP
With a total GDP of $247.2 billion and an estimated 3.8% growth
in 2010, Alberta is expected to lead all provinces in economic
growth in 2012 (Alberta Economic Quick Facts PDF).
Employment rates
Year over year, Alberta's employment has increased by 3.5%
(71,200 jobs) more than double the national growth rate of 1.4% (Labour Force Statistics, June 2011 PDF). In
2010, Alberta's unemployment rate at 6.5% was the third lowest in
Canada (Alberta Office of Statistics &
Information).
Average income
Between April 2010 and April 2011, Alberta saw a 4.7% increase
in the average weekly earnings. This was the second highest annual
growth rate and was above the national average increase of 3.5% (Alberta Office of Statistics &
Information).
Building permits granted yearly
In May 2011, the total value of Alberta's building permits
increased 22.7% to $1.1 billion compared to April 2011
(Alberta Office of Statistics &
Information).
Since 2006, over 18,000 building permits have been issued by the
City and County of Red Deer with a value of approx. $2.5 billion
dollars (Red Deer Regional Economic Development).
