Lifestyle
You earn your downtime
Spend quality time at our beautiful open parks, lush
green golf courses, forested campgrounds and soft
sand beaches, all close by. We take our fun seriously in Central
Alberta - in fact, investments in our tourism and recreation sector
are highest next to infrastructure and institutions.

Outdoor recreation
River valley parks, long bike paths, kids day camps and shady
picnic spots are a few of the places to spend quality time
outdoors. Sylvan Lake, named one of Canada's ten best
beaches, is conveniently located just 10 minutes off the main
Highway II corridor.
Winter fun
Though the majestic Rocky Mountains are just a couple hours
away, you don't have to go far for great winter activities. Central
Alberta's Canyon
Ski Area is the province's largest ski resort outside of
the mountains and the region's parks and lakes provide excellent
skating and cross country skiing opportunities.
Neighbourhood play
Clean air, bright sun and places to run are everywhere in
Central Alberta. Communities across the region maintain
neighbourhood playgrounds, sports fields, walking trails and
skating rinks.
Arts & culture
Live theatre, a local symphony, artisan displays and cultural
festivals create a strong and active cultural scene. We are also
well known for our numerous rodeos and exhibitions including
Western Canada's largest indoor agricultural equipment trade
show, Agri-Trade.
Shopping
Stroll through local downtowns looking for that unique trinket
or powershop your way through Central Alberta's large shopping
centres. Farmer's markets abound in communities
throughout the region and are the best places to be on a sunny
summer Saturday morning.
