Healthcare

Premium public healthcare

We are extremely proud of our publicly funded and administered healthcare system that provides universal access to medical and hospital services.

The Central Alberta health authority serves nearly 300,000 residents and employs over 8,000 staff, including approximately 380 practicing physicians.

The Central Alberta region provides a wide range of first class health services, including home care, 24-hour emergency care, mental health services, rehabilitation, health promotion and MRI services. The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) is a hub for healthcare in Central Alberta and is the referral centre for the region. Among the array of extensive health services they provide, the hospital houses a large dialysis clinic, cancer clinic and a paediatric unit and special care nursery.
