Cost of Living
Living affordably is easy
Low personal taxes make living in Alberta more economical than
elsewhere. Our personal tax rates are among the lowest in Canada,
despite having one of the highest average income rates among the
provinces and territories.
Alberta is the only province without a provincial sales
tax and has the lowest gasoline taxes.
In Ontario, a two-income family earning $75,000 pays about
$1,400 more in provincial taxes, healthcare premiums (Alberta has
eliminated these payments), sales and other excise taxes than here.
In British Columbia, the same family pays $1,800 more than their
Albertan equivalent (AFE 2009).
